Tailgate Chili Cook-Off Set!

On Saturday July 31st, Rotarians are going to find out which Club in District 5320, makes the best darn chili.

The chili contest entry has been made very simple.  Just fill out the application; it can be found on our District web site Rotary5320.org.

Registration fee is $50.  If you have multiple chili aficionados in your club, for an additional $20 you may enter additional chili recipes for the Cook-off.  There are no recipe rules/restrictions regarding what type or style of chili you wish to enter.  We only ask that on the day of the contest, display a list which identifies the ingredients and whether your chili is mild, medium or hot.  Chili Cook-off registrants will have reserved spaces for their canopy, tables and chairs, and of course chili pot and stove.  We would like the Cook-off Clubs to set up at 3:00 sharp.  Judging will start at 3:30. You may want to consider ways of bribing the judges by providing sides of chili dogs, chili hamburgers and nachos, or maybe Rolaids.

Judging will be done by all the Rotarians and their guests attending the game and who purchase a tasting wrist band.  Chili tasting wrist band, bowls, spoons and voting ticket will sold for $5 for as much as you can taste; or is that take?  These judges will be able to purchase additional voting tickets for $1 each.

At this point there are no favorites, only those clubs who turn out the most members to attend the game and tailgate have a slight prejudicial edge.  So you new Club Presidents, this is your chance to get your Club members to buy tickets to the End Polio game and give your chili entry a fighting chance, not that it needs any.

First place Club receives 40% and second place Club receives 20% of the registration proceeds.  The remaining registration revenue and all bowl and voting ticket sale proceeds will go to the District’s End Polio Now campaign.  If you have any questions, contact Kevin Padilla  or Hugh Wood.   For contact information, log in the District database.
