Governor’s Message for September 2010
What better place to focus our concerns and energies than on the youth of our world during New Generations Month?
Rotarians are making plans to sponsor an Interact or Rotaract Club. Many are busy welcoming a new inbound Rotary Youth Exchange student. All 46 Clubs throughout the District are budgeting to send students to our world-class RYLA program and to participate in the District Vocal and Speech competitions. Rotarians are ensuring that the youth in District 5320 have needed school supplies, backpacks, nutritious meals and new books, good dental health, esteem building activities, Scouting, ethics and the 4-way test…
Projects are being planned to encourage math and science achievement, mentoring one-to-one, the 7th Inning Stretch, distribution of dictionaries, scholarship programs, transportation, and special needs programs. International projects are being planned to help reduce child mortality, give immunizations and promote international youth exchange. SO many service projects for and with our young people!
“Thank you for believing in me and the youth of today….I can’t wait to begin to really make a difference.”
- Excerpt from a RYLA Camper’s letter
Powerful words and a powerful message!
In showing care and belief, we are making an important investment, not only for each individual person but also for the future of our world. New Generations Month is the perfect time to focus on the young adults and children of our communities.
District 5320 has many wonderful things happening in support of youth that we can be proud of. Our youth of today need Rotary more than ever. Rotary provides the example and the support that can achieve the peace our worlds and the goodwill it people deserve.
As you continue “Building Communities – Bridging Continents” remember our legacy!
