Dear Rotarians and Rotaractors of District 5320,
In March, we recognize Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene Month, a core focus of Rotary International. Through Rotary’s global efforts, we continue to create sustainable solutions that improve the health and well-being of communities worldwide. Let’s reflect on how we can contribute locally and globally to ensure safe water and sanitation for those in need.
Let us also congratulate and thank Yorba Linda Sunrise Club President, Sean Phayakapong on his selection to serve as a Rotary District 5320 ambassador to the Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene Rotary Action Group (WASH-RAG). The WASH-RAG works with Rotary Clubs around the world to improve WASH projects in schools, clinics and communities where Rotarians are making a difference As a WASH Ambassador, Sean will increase our awareness of WASH projects, work with clubs on WASH programs, and connect our Rotarians and clubs with appropriate WASH resources. Thank you, Sean, for serving in this important role!
March also brings us World Rotaract Week (March 11-17)—a time to celebrate the passion, leadership, and service of our incredible Rotaractors. Rotaract plays a vital role in the Rotary family, bringing fresh ideas, energy, and innovation to our mission of “Service Above Self.” Let’s encourage all clubs to engage with and support our Rotaractors, strengthening the bridge between generations of service-minded leaders.
Together, let us commit to making an impact, whether it’s through a water-related service project, a collaboration with our Rotaractors, or simply raising awareness about the importance of clean water. Thank you for all you do to serve our communities and make a difference in the world.
Yours in Rotary Service,
Chris Skorina
District Governor

BENEFIT CONCERT FOR FIRE VICTIMS
As you may know, longtime District 5320 Rotarian Zoot Velasco has relocated to the Rotary Club of Altadena. That club saw sixteen of its members lose houses and eight members lose their businesses in the recent Eton fire. Zoot is producing a relief concert for the Eaton Fire at the Alex Theatre in Glendale. Please see his article below for more information. Anything you can do to help is appreciated!
OUR DISTRICT IS A LIVE SCAN APPROVED AGENCY
We are pleased to report our district has taken an important step to protect our youth and youth programs by becoming an authorized LiveScan agent. This means our youth volunteers have the convenience of a one-time fingerprint and background check. Many thanks to PDG and RYLA Chair and PDG Cisca Stellhorn, Youth Chair Paula Fox and Youth Protection Officer Scott Rudisil for helping to make this important advancement for our youth programs.
CELEBRATE FORMATION OF A NEW INTERACT CLUB!
An Interact Club has been formed at Corona del Mar High School! We thank and congratulate Kelly Burgess who is serving as the Interact adviser on campus, and Newport-Balboa Club President, Niki Willhoit, for their efforts in nurturing our young people on their lives of service. Well done!
REMINDER ABOUT RI DUES
As we discussed at the last Leadership Forum, it is important for Club Presidents and Treasurers to be on the lookout for invoices from Rotary International every January and July. If you do not get an invoice, please take the initiative and contact RI to find out why. You do not want to risk termination of your club (and thus face a lengthy and expensive reinstatement process) for failure to pay RI dues.
ROTARY DISTRICT 5320, INC. HAS A 501(c)(3) FOUNDATION CLUBS MAY USE
The district has created a 501(c)(3) foundation that clubs may use in lieu of forming their own foundation. The purpose of the foundation is twofold. First, it will save clubs who do not already have a separate foundation from the expense and compliance burdens associated with establishing and maintaining such an entity. Charitable donations received on behalf of a club will be disbursed according to that club’s direction (provided the funds are directed to a permitted 501(c)(3) purpose. Second, it will help our district build a disaster relief fund and enable us to better respond when the next natural disaster strikes our communities.
Clubs who wish to use the foundation are encourage review and sign the Foundation Use Agreement that can be found on the district website here: https://resources.rotary5320.org/club/district-5320-foundation/
Executed copies of the agreement should be sent to our District Administrator, Lindsay Whiddon, at admin@rotarydistrict5320.org
